President's Message

 

Dear Friends,

We haven’t had much of a winter and I’m probably the only person on Staten Island besides the kiddies, who has been wishing for one good snow.  Well, seems as if that’s not going to happen, so I’ll settle for an early spring.  All seasons bring joy, so be sure to enjoy. If you are reading this, you are aware of the new format of our newsletter.  Please take note of all the important dates to ensure you don't miss one of our upcoming meetings and our wonderful speakers.

Two dates I wish to call to your attention, March 17 Health Fair, 6:30pm at our new Brooklyn meeting place, Lutheran Medical Center. All are welcome!  Bring a friend from Brooklyn or Staten Island.   Also save this date, August 11, 2008, when Karen Farid, Enterastomal Wound Care Nurse, will conduct a visitation class.  Karen will certify those who attend the class as visitors.  Karen will certify those who attend the class as visitors.  Visits to new ostomates can be made by telephone and we hope significant others of Ostomates will attend as a show of their support.   This type of class is held every two to three years.  Think about how much you might be able to help someone new to the world of ostomy.  Please consider signing up for the training.  It will be time well spent.

Stuck in the home?  Well, spend a little time checking out our updated website.  Lisa Maloney has done a fantastic job.  Looking forward to seeing you all at our March 10th meeting on Staten Island and March 17th in Brooklyn.  Until then, have a Happy St. Patrick's Day and a Joyful Easter.

Dear Members,

Just a brief note to welcome all of our dear member’s back.  I hope you are all feeling well, and are prepared for a new season with new topics to learn from.  As for our upcoming Health Fair, I hope many will attend. A few of our Brooklyn members have attended last year's Health Fair in Staten Island and were glad they did.  To view a list of our representatives revert to the Home page.
